Shimla, Apr 9 (UNI) Urban policing system will soon be implemented in Shimla town after encouraging results in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) area of the state, DIG R L Sood today said.

Addressing a press conference here, he said seven to eight social workers in each ward of 25 wards of the state capital would help the police in resolving local issues under the system.

Mr Sood said the decision to implement the system was taken after receiving encouraging results in BBN area of the state where it was launched in December last year.

A new police station in the New Shimla area of the town would also be set up under this system soon, besides the construction of a model police station at Dhalli, he said.

Emphasising the need for modernisation of all police stations in the state, he said the state police was implementing the Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) to provide better services to the public.

''Under the CIPA, four police stations each in Shimla and Solan town and three in Bilaspur have been computerised, while the process for getting more stations computerised is on.'' Besides, buildings of three police stations of Sadar, Chotta Shimla and Boielujang area in Shimla town have been declared heritage structures, he added.
