Two PREPAK militants arrested in Kolkata

Kolkakta, Apr 9(UNI) Two Manipuri extremists were arrested when the army and police conducted a joint raid in the city yesterday.

The arrested were self-styled Lieutenant and captain of the underground PREPAK, Defence spokesman Wing Commander R K Das said.

The team also recovered some incriminating documents after the duo was taken to a hideout, he said.

'' The arrests were made by a joint team of army intelligence and CID following a tip-off from Manipur after two other PREPAK militants were arrested in Imphal airport on Saturday last,'' Mr Das said.

The two PREPAK militants, who had been residing in Kolkata as students, were trying to get away from the city after receiving the news of their comrades being nabbed in Imphal, he said.

A team of anti-terrorist cell of Manipur police are coming to the city to interrogate the arrested PREPAK militants.
