Two bookies arrested
Shajapur, MP, Apr 9 (UNI) Two bookies have been arrested in this district's Agar-Malwa area on the charge of betting in World Cup Cricket matches being played in West Indies, police said today.
Agar Station House Officer (SHO) M K Upadhyay said Kamal Jatav and Satyanarayan had been arrested from the government middle school premises yesterday.
Besides Rs 5,000, police seized three mobile phones, betting slips and diaries from them. Last week, wagers, worth over Rs 80,000, had been placed.
The accused allegedly placed wagers for bookies from Shajapur, Rajgarh, Ujjain and Rajasthan's Jhalawad district.
The forthcoming match between South Africa and West Indies to be played on April 12 had allegedly been booked in South Africa's favour.
