Sendur blast: Explosives dealer surrenders

Vellore, Apr 9 (UNI) A day after the arrest of two people in connection with Saturday's jeep explosion, in which 16 people were killed, the licensed dealer of explosives G Sekar, surrendered before a Magistrate Court today.

Accompanied by his advocate Subburajalu, Sekar, who owns a licensed explosives godown at Parathipuliyur, from where scurry explosives and detonators were taken in the ill-fated jeep, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court-I this morning, even as Police were searching for him.

Sekhar was remanded to 15-day judicial custody by Magistrate Ramachandran. Later, he was taken to Vellur Central Prison.

Hailing from Manalipet in the Union Territory of Puducherry, Sekar was running the godown at Parathipuliyur in Mayilam police limit in Villupuram district for several years.

Yesterday, police arrested Annamalai and Nagappan working at the godown owned by Sekar. Shanmugam, a technician working in the godown was secured by the police, but he was found not involved in the incident. Initial reports suggested that Shanmugam was one of three people in the jeep killed in the incident.

Later investigations revealed that the jeep was driven by Babu.

He and two of his assistants Balaraman and Kumar alias Senthilkumar had perished in the blast.
