Rs 21 lakh power theft unearthed
Vadodara, Apr 9 (UNI) Sleuths of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) today unearthed power thefts worth Rs 21 lakh from various industrial units, located in Surendranagar district here.
As many as 900 units were raided during surprise checks and 135 of them were found to be indulging in power thefts. A fine of Rs 21 lakh has been slapped on them, sources said.
Of these 135 units, 73 were located in Muli and Sayla villages in Surendranagar district and were fined Rs 11.30 lakh. Sixtytwo cases of power-theft worth Rs 9.67 lakh were detected in Vadhwan and Limdi cities here, sources added.
