Revenue officer, peon land in Vigilance net

Jammu, Apr 9 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today arrested a Revenue Officer and his peon while accepting bribe in Chinore area of Jammu, sources said here.

The Revenue Officer, identified as Muhammad Razaq and his peon Kaki Ram were caught red handed by a sleuth of Vigilance department, while accepting bribe of Rs 1,000.

A SVO team laid the trap on a complaint lodged by Rattan Lal Koul that the accused is demanding an amount of Rs 1,000 as illegal gratification for attestation of mutation in favour of 9.5 marlas of land purchased by him in the name of his wife Daizy Koul.

Sources added when the complainant approached the accused, he asked him to handover the bribe money to his peon. The duo was arrested red handed while accepting bribe.
