Pudhcherry admn taking steps to amend MV Act: Shajahan
Puducherry, Apr 9 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, Transport Minister M O H F Shajahan told the legislative assembly today.
Replying to a question, Mr Shajahan said only after making certain amendments in the Act, the government could reimburse the fee collected from 464 persons towards fee for application for the provision of mini bus permit.
Stating that certain amendments were already made in Tamil Nadu, Mr Shajahan made it clear that it was a policy decision of the government not to issue mini bus permit to private parties.
Replying to another question, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the government had no second opinion that the strength of the police constables be raised on the basis of development. The administration was taking steps to increase the strength of police constables here.
To another question Mr Rangasamy said the government had no proposal to make HIV test on couples mandatory before their marriage.
A national policy should be evolved in this regard, he added.
