Probe ordered into Kwakeithel killings

Imphal, Apr 9 (UNI) The Manipur Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of three youths in police firing at Kwakeithel, here on April 6.

After the order, the Joint Action Committee, formed to protest the killing of the three youths, has now decided to take back the dead bodies, which were kept at the morgue of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.

Officials said an agreement was reached during meetings between representatives of the JAC and the Government last evening.

As the Chief Minister, O Ibobi singh, was out of station, Chief Minister in-charge Th Debendra discussed the matter with the JAC and ordered a magisterial inquiry.

As per the MoU, the Government agreed to initiate action against the police personnel on the report of the inquiry.
