PIL seeks scrapping of Sethu Samudram project

Lucknow, Apr 9 (UNI) A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court demanding immediate scrapping of the central government's Sethu Samudram project.

The petitioner Hindu Personal Law Board claims that under the project, the 'Ram Setu' dating back to Lord Ram's period was being dug.

According to NASA carbon dating, 'Ram Setu' in the Indian Ocean is 17 lakh years old, therefore, it should be declared a national monument, the PIL maintains.

The hearing of the case will take place on April 11.
