Petroleum dealers call nation-wide strike on Apr 12
Chennai, Apr 9: Petroleum dealers across the country have called for a day's nation-wide strike on April 12, to press the government to resolve their long-standing demands.
In a statement here today, Chennai Regional Petroleum Dealers Association (CRPDA) said, ''all this while, we have been making repeated requests to enhance the dealers margin to ensure economic viability in the trade, but nothing is done to address our issues''.
The managing committee of Federation of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT) at its meeting held in New Delhi, had passed a resolution that if the government fails to lend serious and immediate attention to resolve the long-standing demands by April 10, the dealers all over the country would resort to a 'no purchase no sale' campaign for one day on April 12.
''If the oil companies do not resolve their issues even thereafter then the petroleum dealers, all over the country, would launch an indefinite nationwide strike with effect from April 28 '', he said.
