Oppn forces adjournment of House
Hyderabad, Apr 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was today adjourned for sometime amid pandemonium by the Opposition over the alleged scam in the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme and their demand for more 'Krishna' water to Telangana.
The trouble started soon after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), CPI and the AIMIM on the multi-crore scam in the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored SSA and the TRS demanding diversion of 200 tmc Krishna water to the flurosis hit Nalgonda for drinking and irrigation.
Carrying placards, TRS members rushed to the well of the House and shouted slogans against the government for alleged injustice to the Telangana region on the utilisation of Krishna water.
The TDP members were on their feet demanding setting aside the regular business and immediate taking up of the education scam.
The Speaker appealed to the members to raise these issues during the debate on motion of thanks to the Governor for his address.
Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah said Opposition members could straight away raise the issues of their concern. It was unfortunate that these parties were alleging that they were not getting time for raising public issues but they were not coming forward to speak on the issues in proper form in the Assembly, he said.
Despite repeated appeals by the Speaker, the Oppositon members obstructed the proceedings.
With no signs of normalcy returning to the House, the Speaker announced the adjournment of the House for over 15 minutes.
Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the CPI(M) on problems of Gramsevaks, by the BJP on shortage of cooking gas and kerosene and by Janata Party member K Ramulu on problems relating to secondary school examinations spot valuation.
