One sentenced to death in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Apr 9 (UNI) A special court of the CBI today awarded death sentence to a person, accused of killing five people, including the wife of an Indian Forest Service official and children, four years ago.

The accused Ajay Paul, a domestic help, killed IFS officer Dhirendra Kumar's wife Amita Sinha and son Harshit on June two, 2003 in their house at Gandhi Bihar in Bariatu here.

Besides, Ms Sinha's brother and his two children, who had come from New Delhi, were killed on the day.

According to CBI sources, Ajay had quarrelled with Amita and in a fit of rage he mixed poison with their food. As the five victims felt unconscious, he then hit them with rod.

Ajay then set the wooden furniture in the house ablaze in which all the five were burnt alive.

A case was registered at the Bariatu police station on June two, 2003 and the case was later handed over to the CBI.
