Nigerians held for inflicting stab wounds on financier
Chennai, Apr 9 (UNI) Two Nigerians were arrested here today for inflicting stab wounds on a city financier after the latter refused to believe their promise of bringing in investments from Liberia.
Police said the duo, Robinson and Raymond Ozad, were arrested at Chennai Central station when they tried to flee the city.
The Nigerians used to collect surety money from gullible financiers on the pretext of bringing in investments from Liberia and then cheated them.
They had cheated a financier of Rs 18 lakh promising Rs 3.5 crore foreign investment and fled to New Delhi. Resurfacing after a gap of few months, they tried to play the trick on a financier from Korattur, Saravanakumar, who refused to budge.
As the financier sought more documents to verify their claim, a verbal duel ensued and in the melee, the Nigerians attacked him with a knife and snatched Rs 2000.
Acting on a complaint, the Nigerians were arrested and remanded in custody.
Police sources added that the duo were also involved in smuggling of narcotic drugs into the State.
