Naxals attempt to torch tehsil office in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, Apr 9 (UNI) Suspected Naxalites today made an attempt to torch a tehsil office at Dhanora in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, causing minor damage.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) (Dhanora), Nilesh Ashtikar told UNI, the Naxalites sneaked into the tehsil office early today and managed to set afire a room in the building before they fled.

The flames destroyed some papers in the room and caused a minor damage to the ceiling, he said, adding there were no casualties in the incident.

Mr Ashtikar said, two banners calling for support to the 'Dandakaranya bandh call tomorrow by Naxalite organisations, were also spotted at the spot.

''It is understood that the Naxalites were trying to create terror on the eve of the bandh,'' he said.
