MPMOA demands action against quacks

Dharamshala, Apr 9 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers Association (HPMOA) today demanded strict action against hospitals and nursing homes being run by quacks in different parts of the state under the Private Hospital and Nursing Home Act.

Strict action should be taken against hospitals and nursing homes being run by quacks and unqualified doctors, HPMOA spokesman Susheel Sharma told reporters here.

He demanded that HPMOA representative should also be included in the committee formulated for framing rules and regulations under the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Act.

Dr Sharma also criticised the state government for increasing the voluntary retirement age from 20 to 30 years, saying the move was against the interests of the doctors serving the vast sections of the society.

Observing that doctors should not be treated as bonded labourers, he said the voluntary age of retirement should be brought down to 20 years.
