Leopard wounds farmer in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI) A leopard attacked and wounded a farmer in south Kashmir, police said today.
They said the leopard attacked and wounded Abdul Rashid Wagay at Drunbal village in Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir last evening. He has been hospitalised.
Wild animals have killed more than a dozen people in the Kashmir valley since November last year. In January this year, leopards had killed four children in south Kashmir.
Officials said there have been 80-90 incidents of man-animal conflicts in the recent past. People have also killed two leopards in south Kashmir during the past three months.
In view of frequent leopard attacks and loss of lives, a massive and vigorous hunt has been launched by the wildlife department along with police to trap the animals.
