Joshi to be sworn in as Meghalaya Gov on Apr 12

New Delhi, Apr 9: Mr Banwari Lal Joshi, newly-designated Governor of Meghalaya, will assume charge on April 12.

Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Joshi, who relinquished his post of Lt Governor of Delhi, said there is immense potential to develop the north east region as a tourist hub.

He said with proper development of the infrastructure, this region can attract a huge number of foreign tourists as adjoining South East Asian countries are currently witnessing massive growth in the inflow of foreign tourists.

Mr Joshi expressed his happiness about working in this region and said he would soon finalise his priorities so that developmental works could go hand in hand with steps for economic uplift of the region, he added.

He succeeds Mr Mundakkal Mathew Jacob, who held the post for a record 12 years. He was also the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh for some time.
