Islamabad, Apr 9: Iran has agreed to supply 1,000MW electricity to Pakistan through a transmission line to be constructed on priority.

A Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed by Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi and Iranian Minister for Energy in Tehran, Dawn newspaper reported.

Both the countries also agreed to exchange technical know-how in manufacturing of 220-KV transformers and specially help Pakistan Heavy Electric Complex (HEC) in manufacture of transformers.

The MoU was signed against the backdrop of an assurance by Iran that it would provide every support and assistance to Pakistan in the water and power sectors.

''We have invited Iranian private and public sector companies to participate in power and water sectors in Pakistan,'' Jatoi said.
