India, Mauritius to form two JWGs in road and shipping sector

New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) India and Mauritius have agreed to form two Joint Working Groups in the shipping and road sector.

This was decided at a meeting between Mauritius Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Rashid Beebeejaun and Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T R Baalu here today.

Dr Rashid Beebeejaun, who is also the Public Infrastructure, Land Transport and Shipping Minister, is on a six-day visit to India on the invitation of Mr Baalu.

The two sides also agreed to explore future areas of cooperation in the Shipping and Road infrastructure sectors and working together towards development of efficient transportation in the two countries.

The Mauritian Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the economic progress India has made in recent times and sought India's cooperation in the infrastructural development of his country.

He especially commended the expertise of the Indian marine and engineering officials and showed keen interest in enhancing cooperation in maritime training.

Mr Baalu briefed the Mauritian dignitary about the progresses made by India in the Road and Shipping Sector and the introduction of public-private partnership in these sectors.
