DMK plea to govt on quota for Christians, Muslims

Puducherry, Apr 9 (UNI) The DMK today urged the administration to take steps to get the Centre's approval for providing separate reservation for Christians and Muslims in education and employment sector in the union territory.

In a special mention tabled during Zero Hour, Mr S P Sivakumar (DMK) pointed out the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission recommendation for separate reservation for Christians and Muslims in the state.

Since, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were closely linked, the territorial administration could also implement the recommendation here. However, no reply received from the side of the government.

Meanwhile, Mr N Anand (PMC), in a special mention, sought government intervention in postponment of the first year MBBS examination scheduled for May 21 as some of its portions were yet to be completed.
