Debt ridden farmer commits suicide in Punjab
Sangrur, Apr 9 (UNI) A debt ridden farmer today allegedly committed suicide by consuming an insecticide in Khaili village in Barnala district, police here said.
The deceased identified as Harjit Singh had recently sold of his five acre agricultural land to repay bank loans he had taken for purchasing a tractor and a mini truck. The police after completing the legal formalkities handed over the body to the next of kin of the deceased farmer.
He leaves behind his widow, a seven-year-old daughter and 13-year old son, who virtually have no means of livelihood.
