Bhikhudan Gadhavi to receive Ravishankar Maharaj Award
Ahmedabad, Apr 9 (UNI) Noted Gujarati folk artist Bhikhudan Gadhavi will receive Ravishankar Maharaj Award, while Bapa Sitaram Institute of Bagdana in Bhavnagar will get the Nalanda award, instituted by Social Justice Department.
Minister for Social Justice Ramanlal Vora said here today both the awards consisting Rs one lakh each and certificates will be given to the recipients by Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Bagdana village in Bhavnagar district at a later date.
Gadhvi, a leading light of Gujarati folk tales (lok sahitya), has carved out a niche in 'dayaro', (folk song), an integral part of Kathiyawadi culture. His speech carries vigour and his folk songs fill the heart of listeners, he added.
