227 file papers for Phase V, 85 for phase VI in UP

Lucknow, Apr 9 (UNI) Altogether 227 candidates filed their nominations for Phase-V and 85 candidates for Phase-VI polls today.

In phase-V, now a total of 572 candidates have filed their nominations in 58 assembly segements where polling will be held on April 28. Nominations for phase-V will continue till tomorrow while scrutiny of papers will be done the next day. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till April 13.

Now a total of 158 candidates have filed their nominations for phase-VI where polling in 52 assembly seats will be held on May 3.

Candidates can file their nominations till April 12, scrutiny of papers will be held next day and withdrawal till April 16.

By-elections to the two Lok Sabha seats, Robertsganj(reserved) and Mirzapur, would also be held along with the sixth phase polling where only one candidate for Mirzapur seat has filed nomination today. Two candidates have filed their nominations for Robertsganj seat so far.

For phase-IV, a total of 929 candidates are in the fray for 57 assembly seats where polling will be held on April 23.

In the third phase, 863 candidates are in the fray for 58 assembly seats going to poll on April 18, while in the second phase of polling to be held on April 13 altogether 883 candidates are in the fray in 58 seats.

In the first phase of polling today, fate of as many as 839 candidates was sealed in the EVMs where over 45 per cent of voters had cast ballots in 62 seats spread in 13 districts.
