Tight security for Jalgaon, Erandol LS bypolls
Jalgaon, Apr 8 (UNI) Tight security arrangements have been made for the Jalgaon and Erandol Lok Sabha by-elections scheduled for tomorrow.
District collector Vijay Singhal told reporters here this evening that there are a total of 1197 polling stations in Erandol of which 20 have been identified as sensitive. In Jalgaon, there are 1190 polling stations of which 10 are sensitive.
A total of 4,500 police personnel will be deployed in both the constituencies and they will be assisted by four companies of the State Reserve Police Force and 1100 Home Guard personnel, Mr Singhal said.
In the Jalgaon Lok Sabha constituency, the main contest will be between Dr Arjun Bhangale of the Congress and BJP's Haribhau Jawale although a total of eleven candidates are in the fray.
Five candidates are in the fray in Erandol but the main contest will be between NCP's Vasantrao More and BJP's Dr B S Patil.
