Swanky 'Palace on Wheels' to be ready by Dasara

Mysore, Apr 8 (UNI) 'Palace on Wheels' aimed at attracting the foreign tourists, was likely to be introduced by the beginning of Dasara Festivities in October.

The swanky train service would help several towns of the state figure among the most preferred destination in the international tourism circuit, according to Tourism Commissioner G Kumara Naik.

The endeavour to be taken up by the railways in association with the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).

Sources at Tourism Department told UNI that the work on the coach was in progress at the Integral Coach Factory in Perambur and was expected to be completed by this month end. After completing the remaining works on the project, the same would be made ready for operation by September or October this year.

Mr Naik said that though Leela group, a five star hotel organisation, had shown interest to operate the catering services on the coach, the company had withdraw its offer for reasons of its own. New tender was being invited.

The luxury train was likely christened 'Golden Chariot', however, if better name was suggested by the public it would be welcome.

Advertisement for suggesting the name was being released in Radio City, Bangalore soon.
