State Marathi film award function to be held on April 30

Kolhapur, Apr 8 (UNI) The state-sponsored Marathi film awards will be held on April 30 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji stadium here, the Kolhapur district guardian minister Harshawardhan Patil announced today.

Speaking at a press conference at the district collectorate, Mr Patil said the State government had decided to organise the annual award distribution function here to coincide with the 75th anniversary celebration of Marathi talkie. that was produced in the city.

The first Marathi talkie 'Ayodhecha Raja' was released in Mumbai on February 6, 1932, Mr Patil said.

A total of 30 awards will be presented at the function, including V Shantaram award and Raj Kapoor awards. The function is being held in association with different departments and assistance of Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal.

Veteran actors and Marathi film artists will be honoured on the occasion for their outstanding contribution and service to the Marathi film industry.

Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will inaugurate the function in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and a large number of State Cabinet ministers.

He said all Marathi film actors will be invited besides actors from Bollywood.

The Marathi film awards distribution ceremony is being organised after a long gap of 20 years, he added.
