Six killed, two injured in road mishap

Shimla, Apr 8 (UNI) Six people were killed and three injured in two separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh last night, police sources said today.

At least five people, including a couple and a child, were killed and two injured after their Tata Indica car fell into a gorge near Bangora, 70 km from Solan, on the National Highway No 88 at about 0100 hrs.

The sources said while Devi Chand and her wife Devika, 48, Nirmala Devi, 60 and Naresh Kumar were killed on the spot, Chetan Kumar, 14, died on way to the hospital.

The two injured, identified as Mickey, 9, and Ishu, 7, have been admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital here, the sources said.

They said the cause of the accident was, however, not immediately known and added that a case has been registered and investigations were on.

The Solan district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each to the next of kin, the sources added.

In another road accident in the state, the driver of a tipper was killed at Bhathal, near Nerva, about 130 km from here, after the vehicle fell into a gorge last night.

The sources said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Narinder Singh, 20, was killed on the spot, while another, identified as Naresh, has been admitted to a government hospital at Nerva.

The sources said a case has been registered and investigations were on.
