Six killed in head-on collision at Jalna

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 8 (UNI) At least six people, including three women of the Sarda family from Hyderabad, were killed and a two-year-old child injured, when the jeep in which they were travelling in, collided head-on with a speedy truck near Utvad Pati, in Jalna district, here today.

The accident occurred around 0630 hrs under the jurisdiction of Moujpuri police station. The members of the Sarda family from Hyderabad were on their way to Chikhli in Buldhana district, Jalna District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chiranjeev Prasad told UNI.

The deceased have been identified as Suryaprakash Srinivas Sarda (55), Aashis Suryaprakash Sarda (28), Ms Shweta Aashish Sarda (25), Ms Mankuwar Srinivas Sarda (75), Ms Saraswati Sarda (75) and the driver Santosh (38), police sources said.

''The two-year-old child is the only survivor in the accident. He has been admitted to a private hospital and is stated to be out of danger,'' the sources said.

A case has been registered under sections 279, 427, 338, 304 (a) of IPC and sections 134/137 of the Motor Vehicles Act, against the driver, who is absconding, the sources added.
