Shekhawat arrives in Varanasi

Varanasi, Apr 8 (UNI) Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat arrived in the holy city by Special Indian Air Force (IAF) plane this evening.

Official sources said Mr Shekhawat arrived by the Special IAF plane at the Varanasi Airport at 1810 hrs.

At the Airport, the Vice President was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh governor T V Rajeswar, State Revenue Minister Ambika Chowdhary and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Vice-Chancellor Panjab Singh.

The motorcade of the Vice President then left for the BHU.

Mr Shekhawat will be the Chief Guest at the 89th convocation of the BHU on the central university campus tomorrow.

Prior to that, the Vice-President will offer prayers at the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple tomorrow morning.

He will return by the special IAF plane tomorrow evening, sources added.
