PM wishes Pranab ''speedy recovery''

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today wished a ''speedy recovery'' to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee who was critically injured in a road accident in West Bengal late last night.

Dr Singh was monitoring the medical care being provided to Mr Mukherjee, whose condition is now said to be stable, sources in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.

The Minister is likely to be brought here later today for further treatment, they added.

Mr Mukherjee was critically injured when a lorry collided head on with his car at Birhattala area under Bethuadahari Police Station of Nadia district in West Bengal at 2115 hours last night.

Rushed to Bethuadahari Grameen hospital, he needed 12 stitches in his head and was also provided a saline drip.
