Kerala: DM Authority to be launched on May 9
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 8: A state-level Disaster Management Authority with the Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan as its Chairman will come into force in Kerala on May 9.
Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran told newspersons here yesterday that Mr Achuthanandan would inaugurate the Authority which would have nine members.
He said a Land and Disaster Management Institute would be set up to give training to people in disaster management. The service of Edusat satellitte and other modern communication facilities would be used for giving training to students in different parts of the state.
Mr Rajendran said task forces would be constituted in district-level to tackle both natural and man-made disasters.
