Kalam enthralls Infosys trainees in Mysore
Mysore, Apr 8 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam entralled a large number of engineering graduates hailing from various parts of the country undergoing training at Asia's biggest Business training centre, Infosys' Global Education Centre, with his speech here today.
A lively bout of interaction ensured with the President eliciting a seven-point oath, in one voice, which included setting an ambitious goal, to practice righteousness, to lead an honest life, fight corruption and make India a developed country by 2020.
After a tour of the facility in the sprawling 335-acre campus, he said ''This is a fantastic place. When I entered this campus I felt I came here 55 years late,'' he said.
Narrating his experience with his 'guru' Satish Dhawan, who was the chairman of ISRO more than three decades ago, he said he was given the fourth stage rocket vehicle. ''I was in my 30s and my guru seeing my anxiety later said, Kalam, when you try to solve a complex mission you can only expect a complex problem. You must face it and don't let the problem ride on your back but you ride it and succeed.
You have to do the same thing,'' he said in a bid to inspire the trainees.
Lauding the foresight and vision of Infosys founder chairman and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy for building a global IT firm and creating such a beautiful campus for its future growth, Kalam said the GEC would empower the trainees to learn life-long and remain a centre of excellence as Nalanda University was once in Bihar .
Referring to the convergence of technologies leading to ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and Biotechnology to Bio-Informatics, the President said the advent of Nano-Technology would result in material convergence, with a host of applications such as DNA based Nano-Robots to fight diseases and create more intelligent habitat for longevity.
''Nano-technology is the future that will replace Micro Electronics. It has tremendous potential in the areas of medicine, electronics and material science. When ICT meets intelligent silicon electronics, photonics are born leading to material convergence and would lead to a disease free, happy and more intelligent habitat with scope for longevity and great human capability'' the president said.
