Kabini Farmers Association submitted memorandum to Kalam
Mysore, Apr 8 (UNI) The Kabini Farmers Association of the Mysore and Chamarajanagar district have submitted a memorandum to the President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, urging him to take necessary steps to safeguard their interests following the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal.
Presenting the memorandum to Dr Kalam, the Farmers Association Leader Mr Shantha Kumar has said the CWDT has done a great injustice to the farmers of the region which was the most drought prone area in the entire Cauvery delta belt.
Mr Shantha Kumar also appealed to the President to look into the matter and bring pressure to the Union Government to take all appropriate measures to undo the injustice done to the farmers of the delta region in Karnataka. While stressing that the CWDT's final verdict could not be implemented in its present form which would also result in breeding discontent between the riparian states.
The President after receiving the memorandum gave an assurance that he would study their memorandum in detail and speak to the concerned people at an appropriate time.
