Curfew relaxed in old Lucknow areas

Lucknow, Apr 8 (UNI) Curfew was relaxed for the first time in eight days in areas of old Lucknow which witnessed sectarian violence on Sunday last during Barawafat.

SSP (Lucknow) Jyoti Narain said here that while curfew was relaxed in Chowk area between 1100 hrs and 1400 hrs, it would be relaxed in Thakurganj area between 1500 hrs and 1800 hrs.

Police have disallowed holding of the weekly markets in the old Lucknow areas as a precaution.

The Sunday morning clash had left several people injured and at least one dead.

The Election Commission had taken a serious note of the violence in the poll-bound state and had asked the state government to ensure peace.
