CLP meeting tomorrow to discuss leadership crisis

Itanagar, Apr 8 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has convened a crucial Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting here tomorrow at his official residence for finding a solution to the ongoing leadership crisis.

Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes, who is also the party's North East in charge' would attend the meeting, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Omem Moyong Deori told UNI over the phone from New Delhi today.

Mr Deori, who called on AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and Mr Fernandes in the capital yesterday, discussed the present crisis.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has entrusted Mr Fernandes with the responsibility of resolving the issue, Mrs Deori quoted the Congress president as saying.

Meanwhile, the Congress dilemma over the selection of a CLP leader came to the streets in the state capital yesterday and witnessed outbursts, unseen before in this Himalayan state.

A group of Apang loyalists reportedly burned effigies of Power Minister Dorjee Khandu at Ganga. Khandu, leading the rebel legislators, is demanding the change of party leadership.

Sources said a minor clash broke out between supporters of the rival camps. However, police denied any incidence of violence.
