Body of Qatar firing victim yet to be sent home

Dubai, Apr 8 (UNI) The body of Arunodayam Iyyadurai, who was killed in a shooting incident in Qatar on February 26, is yet to be sent home in Tirnelveli.

Iyyadurai and a Bangladeshi co-worker, Mohamed Jamaludeen, were killed by a Pakistani driver of their sponsor at the latter's farmhouse.

While the remains of Jamaludeen were sent to Sylhet, Bangladesh, last month, no effort was said to have been taken to send Iyyadurai's body home, his relatives said.

His wife has been in touch with the Indian embassy in Qatar, Gulf Times quoted his relatives as saying.

They said his sponsor provided monetary assistance to his son to meet the funeral expenses.

However, no one representing Iyyadurai has approached his sponsor so far.

An Indian embassy official said the mission had written to the foreign ministry and was awaiting a reply.
