Chennai, Apr 8: Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) is eyeing a minimum of 15 to 20 per cent of its turnover from exports during the current fiscal 2007-08.

Talking to reporters last evening on BHEL Power Sector-Southern Region's (PSSR) record targets achieved in 2006-07, its Group General Manager and CEO E Meenakshisundaram said the PSSR was expected to contribute a major share to it.

The overall export orders in 2006-07 stood at about Rs 1500 crore to Rs 1800 crore. BHEL PSSR expects to bag new overseas orders in 2007-08, including a gas turbine project at Kuwait and a power project at Sudan.

''We are expecting a 20 per cent of the turnover through exports this year and 25 per cent by 2008-09'', he added.

He said the BHEL PSSR had achieved an all time high turnover of Rs 625 crore in its 33-year-old history, up by 68.5 per cent as compared to Rs 371 crore last year.

''The roadmap for PSSR for the current fiscal is Rs 900 crore.

We want to have a turnover of Rs 800 crore this year, before achieving the four digit mark of Rs 1,000 crore in 2008-09 to contribute significantly to overall BHEL's turnover target of ten billion dollars by 2011-12,'' he added.

''Power sector, industries, transmission, gas turbine and refinery are the four focus areas for the PSSR to achieve the turnover target,'' Mr Meenakshisundaram said.

He said BHEL PSSR had achieved various milestones in 2006-07 including a 96.30 per cent growth in Profit Before Tax, which went up from Rs 58.92 core in 2005-06 to Rs 115.66 crore in 2006-07.

It also received new orders worth Rs 858.58 crore in 2006-07, again an all time high. The outstanding orders in hand as on March 31 this year was Rs 1,875 crore, which was also a record in the annals of BHEL PSSR, he added.
