Vice Prez to be guest of honour at BHU convocation on Apr 9

Varanasi, Apr 7 (UNI) Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will be the chief guest at the 89th convocation of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) here on April 9.

Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar will be the guest of honour, the BHU Press and Publicity Cell said here today.

Prior to convocation, Mr Rajeswar will also visit the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus of BHU at Barkachha in neighbouring Mirzapur district tomorrow.

In the convocation, three eminent personalities from different spheres will be honoured with 'Honoris Causa'. They include Managing Director and Chief Executive of ICICI Bank K G Kamath, Professor at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore V K Gaur and Director of High Energy Material Research Laboratory, Pune Haridwar Singh.

As many as 27 students from different institutes/faculties will be awarded BHU medals, while Meenakshi Rai will receive the Chancellor Medal for securing highest percentage of marks in the BHU MA/MSc Examinations 2006.
