UP police not deployed at polling centres!
Kanpur, Apr 7: This Uttar Pradesh Assembly is different from the ones witnessed since 1952 as for the first time, the state police has not been deployed inside the polling centres.
Central para military forces have been stationed at all the polling centres.
Keeping a close watch on the crucial Phase-I polling today in the 62 assembly seats, Deputy Election Commissioner J P Prakash along with some senior police officials will go from place to place to monitor the polling process till 1700 hrs.
However, the UP police has been asked to cooperate in maintaining peace outside the polling centres.
In Kanpur, the voters are exercising their franchise in the first phase of the election.
No candidate has been allowed to have tents outside the polling centres. Besides, the use of loud speakers and party flags was also limited.
