Two ATTF militants shot dead by TSR

Agartala, Apr 7 (UNI) Two suspected All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) militants, was shot dead by Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans in an encounter in the state's west district today.

Police said the incident occurred when a TSR patrol launched a special anti-insurgency operation at Minok area, a remote hilly terrain of Atharamura hill, about 18 kms from Champahowar police station under Khowai sub-division. The armed militants started firing on the forces. The TSR jawans immediately retaliated killing two on the spot.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to nab the other members of the gang, who, however, managed to escape through hilly terrain.

The Identities of the victims could not be yet known. There was no casualty on the TSR side, sources added.
