TDP refutes TRS' charges

Hyderabad, Apr 7 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today refuted the charges of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) that TDP President N Chandrababau Naidu was shedding crocodile tears on Telangana issue.

Addressing a press conference here, TDP leader Nagam Janardhana Reddy alleged that the TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao was using the Telangana sentiments for his personal benefits.

He alleged that Mr Chandrasekhara Rao had done nothing for development of the Telangana region.

Mr Reddy said the TDP was very much concerned over certain projects including the Babli project undertaken by neighbouring Maharashtra that would affect the state's interests.

He said the TDP during its tenure had given equal importance to every region in the state and was committed to the development of Telangana region.

The TDP government had provided drinking water to 1000 villages in Nalgonda district by spending Rs 150 crore.

He said it was the TDP government that took up the issue when Karnataka tried to raise the height of Almatti Dam to 524 metres.
