TDLP demands inquiry into SSA by HC Judge

Hyderabad, Apr 7 (UNI) The Opposition Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) today demanded an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the multi-crore District Primary Education Project (DPEP) fund scam.

Addressing a press conference here, deputy leader of the Opposition Nagam Janardhana Reddy alleged that the government was trying to hush up the case as influential persons in the Chief Minister's Office were involved in the scam.

He demanded immediate seizure of all records and shifting of officials involved in the scam.

He said the inquiry by the sitting judge was necessary to detect the real persons involved in the scam.

The government's decision to probe into the incident with CB-CID was only to divert peoples' attention and drag the case, he alleged.

Mr Reddy said the government had ordered CB-CID inquiries into several scams in the state, including the recruitment of teachers in Kadapa district. But it had not taken any serious action on these irregularities.

TDP Rajya Sabha Member R Chandrasekhara Reddy said the State government was misusing the funds received from the Centre. The Centre should immediately intervene and seize all the records of the DPEP fund scam.

He said the TDP would urge the Centre for immediate action on the issue.
