TADA court to frame charges on Salem on Apr 9
Mumbai, Apr 7: Special TADA court Judge P V Bavkar today set April 9 as the day to frame charges against underworld don Abu Salem in the 1995 murder case of builder Pradip Jain.
Judge Bavkar adjourned the matter till Monday as the public prosecutor was absent today for argument on the application filed by defence advocate Ashok Sarogi.
On the last occasion, Sarogi had argued that Mumbai Police had violated agreement between the Portugal and Indian Governments at the time of extradition of Abu Salem. He also informed the court that he had already filed an application in Supreme Court in this regard, which is still pending there.
It may be recalled that two unidentified gunmen had shot builder Pradeep Jain on March 7, 1995 outside his house 'Brij Kamal' in Juhu, a western suburb of Mumbai. Salem has been charged with conspiracy under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act in this case.
