Syndicate Bank Chairman and Kerala MP conferred awards

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Syndicate Bank Chairman C P Swarnakar and Kerala MP M P Veerendra Kumar and Mr M S Rajan of Jawarharlal Nehru Univerity were today conferred Best Banker and Best Dehali Kannadiga today at the 24th Conference of Kannadigas here today.

Mr Swarnakar joins the long list of Banking personalities conferred the Best Banking Award as many of the top executives of the nationalised banks are from Mangalore and Udupi districts which are the homes for several nationalised banks including Syndicate Bank.

Mr Veerendra Kumar, a Kannada speaking MP elected from Kerala has been a minister of state in the United Front Government.

The three outstanding personalities were chosen by Dehali Kannadiga, a Kannada montly from Delhi and the Conference was presided over by former Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary Chirajeev Singh who called upon Kannadigas to develop linguistic and social harmony for achieving national integration.

The day long conference was inagurated by Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr V S Acharya who called for translation of Kannada works into other languages to open Karnataka's windows to the world.

Dehali Kannadiga editor M B Samaga proposed that the Conference should pass a resolution urging the Centre to clear several long pending developmental projects for Karnataka.
