Indore, Apr 7 (UNI) Patna-based Professor Matuknath, who came into limelight following a love affair with his student Julie, feels that the hue and cry raised over his relationship would not have been so loud had he been unmarried.

In an interview published in the April issue of 'Dharmyudh' magazine, Prof Matuknath said society was not accepting the fact that he was married and of old-age. It did not understand that such things had no existence in the realm of love.

Prof Matuknath and Julie were in Indore a few days back on an invitation by the magazine to play the role of guest editor for the April issue. During their visit, both had faced protest from the Shiv Sena and other organisations.

He said more noise was being created because of his marital status and not his age.

The Professor said love had many forms including beauty, 'vatsalya (affection)' and literature. However, affection was the most prominent form.

He said love was not totally free but was not entirely bound by outer restrictions. The decorum of love emerged from heart.

Integrity of feelings and thoughts were more important than physical relations.

Prof Matuknath said he did not believe that love is blind. In fact, 'lover' meant a person whose heart's eyes had opened.

Julie stated that she was with the Professor because of affection and not physical attraction.

She felt that women's organisations were unnatural, as they were fighting men with 'purushatv (manhood)' and their defeat was certain.
