Speaking on the occasion Anil Kapoor, who is the Goodwill Ambassador of Plan India, said, ''I am very happy that my association with Plan India has given me a platform to do something meaningful for millions of children in India. I believe that education has long-term improvements and change can only be sustained if children participate and voice their opinions, and are not just passive recipients of aid.'' Plan India executive director Bhagyashri Dengle pointed out that six in every ten girls don't go to school in India. That is why Plan India initiatives are so critical to improve literacy rates amongst children, she said.
