Paloli need not resign: Pinarayi Vijayan

Kozhikode, Apr 7 (UNI) Kerala Local Self Governence Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty need not resign from the Cabinet in the wake of Kerala High Court finding him guilty of contempt of court, CPI (M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan observed today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said ''the judiciary has taken a pro-liberation policy attitude, if some of the recent court verdicts are any indication.'' ''In this context Mr Mohammed Kutty need not resign for his remarks at a public function that ''courts deliver judgments based on the weight of currency bundles,'' he said.

Stating judicial activism was on the rise in the country, he said it would be better if the three pillars of the democracy avoided encroachment on each others jurisdiction.

He said the recent Supreme Court order staying 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in institute of higher education in the country was against the interest of the common people.
