Overdrawal from grid to cost more
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) In view of the deteriorating frequency regime in the regional grids and its serious impact on grid security, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) proposes to increase the ceiling rate for Unscheduled Interchange (UI) energy at the inter-state level to Rs 7.45 per unit from the present rate of Rs 5.70 per unit.
The increase in UI ceiling rate has been proposed after considering the proposal of Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDCs) to increase the UI ceiling rate to Rs 9.30 per unit, a CERC statement said here today.
The proposal of RLDCs was sent to all the stakeholders and posted on the website of RLDCs, in response to which comments were received from 18 organisations.
The Commission has proposed not to disturb the existing UI rate curve from 50.5 Hz to 49.5 Hz and accordingly there would be no change in the existing UI rate of Rs 3.45 per unit at 49.5 Hz.
However, below 49.5 Hz, the UI rates would be increased to reach the UI ceiling rate of Rs 7.45 per unit at 49.02 Hz.
The Commission has invited comments and suggestions on draft regulations latest by April 23, 2007 after which the regulations shall be finalised.
The final regulations shall be implemented prospectively, the statement added.
