Nagaland to join NE Business Summit

Kohima, Apr 7 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will lead the state's delegation to the Fourth North East Business summit to be held in New Delhi between April 11 - 12.

The Summit, organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region(DoNER), will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Government sources today said that the Nagaland delegation will include Minister of Industries and commerce Khekiho Zhimomi and Agriculture Minister Azo. A team of senior bureaucrats led by the Chief Secretary Lalhuma, will also be a part of the delegation, which include Development commissioner lalthara and Principal Secretary for Industries and Commerce Alemtemshi Jamir.

The chief minister will address the Summit along with all other chief Ministers of the North East. The aim of the Summit is to project the region as an attractive investment destination for industry and commerce.

Incidentally, in the recent past, heavy-weight industrialists like Vijay Mallaya, head of the UB group and Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra, have touched down on Nagaland to study the prospects of the state, sources said, adding that Mr Rio will also be presenting the vast potentials of Nagaland highlighting the richness of the state in various sectors like tourism, natural resources, bio-diversity and availability of a capable force in Human Resource, especially in the services sector.

So far private investment in Nagaland have been few and well spaced, however, telecom giants like Aircel, Reliance and Airtel have already made a mark in the local economy. In the agriculture sector, multinational brands like Dabur are sourcing raw materials from Nagaland like pineapples and roses to be sold in posh malls in Dubai.

A unique feature of this year's Summit will be the presence Naga musicians and artists under the aegis of the Task Force to set the tone in Delhi.
