New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) A group of leading Indian lawyers voiced 'deep concern' today at the 'humiliating treatment' of Pakistan's Chief Justice Iftakar Muhammad Choudhary, saying it was ''an onslaught on the independence of the judiciary.'' In a statement, United Lawyers' Association, hailed Pakistani lawyers' ''courageous role'' in protesting the development.

The Association extended ''support to the lawyers of Pakistan who continue to make efforts to restore independence of judiciary and its image.'' The statement followed a meeting held by the Association this week on ''Recent Developments in Pakistan's Juiciary.'' It was attended among others by former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajinder Sachar, former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, former Supreme Court Bar Association president P P Rao and Association vice president S K Dholakia.
